Meet the Henry Band

     
 
 

Henry Hirose: Woodwind & Keyboard
He was one of the members of Pedro & Capricious. In 1978, he left the group and created the gHenry Band.h From the year 1982, he has produced all of Takahashi Marikofs albums and singles. Major singles that he produced are gMomoiro toiki,h gHarukana hito e,h gGomennec,h and several others which all became a big hit in the music industry. Other than producing her songs, he has produced her concerts, CD jackets, and promotions. He has shown his capability to create and produce products, and the ability to organize and coordinate in effective ways. He is also a loving husband to Mariko.

 
 
 

Keita Miyahara: Keyboard
He began classic piano at the age of 5, and at the age of 13 he studied under one of the most influential musicians, Ryuichi Sakamoto. From the year 1980, he has joined many famous artistsf concert tours, such as Kitaro, Miki Asakura, Shojotai, Cho Yong-pil, Hideki Saijo, Kiyotaka Sugiyama, and etc. He has also done sound works of many commercials, television shows, games, and anime. He received AAC award in 1990 for the commercial, Sakura color. In 1993, he released his first solo album, gToki no Kagami.h In 1994, he became part of the Henry Band and he takes part in the creation of Marikofs albums.

 
 
 

Jun Komatsuzaki: Keyboard
At the age of 8, he started to learn classic guitar. In high school, he played the saxophone, and took piano and violin lessons. While in college, at the year 1968, he joined the group sounds, gPeter Pan,h and they have played at US. Army camps in Okinawa, Iwakuni, Yokosuka, Yokota, and etc. Afterwards, he became part of the chorus band, gEveryday People,h and R&B band, gBody & Soul.h He played at many discos in Tokyo suburbs as the house band. In 1975, he joined gTransam,h and went on many joint national tours with Godaigo and Tamori. He played for many commercials, such as Coca-Cola in the year 1976 and 1978. In 1978, he became part of the Henry Band.

 
 
 

Manteru Nonoda: Woodwind
He started playing the saxophone during high school. After graduation, he moved to Tokyo and studied under Toshiyuki Honda. At the age of 19, he became a professional musician. Besides playing as artistsf back band, he also played at jazz live house in Shinjyuku Pit Inn. He worked on the sounds of the movie, gMarusa no onna,h and the famous Asahi TV stationfs gNews station.h ?In 1995, he joined Nettai Jazz Rakudan. There he released many CDs, which has high ratings in both Japan and in New York. He joined Henry Band in the year 1994, and he also plays at concerts for artists visiting Japan like, Greg Walker, Michael Franks, and Isabelle Antena.

 
 
 

Harutoshi Fujii: Guitar
He and five of his friends from hometown won the Fresh Sounds Contest sponsored by Coca-Cola, and in 1985, the same members formed a famous rock band, gZigZag.h He was the bandfs main guitarist, and written many songs that became a hit in the music industry. In 1989, the band broken up, and he joined and played at many concert tours of Machiko Watanabe, Tomoyo Harada, Yoshihiro Ishikawa, and etc. In 1996, he became part of the Henry Band.

 
 
 

Jiro Okada: Bass
Through the influence of his big brother, he started bass at the age of 13. After graduating from the famous Yamaha Music School in 1985, he played as a professional musician at age of 22. He played at many live houses in Tokyo, and done many Jazz fusion sessions. He has also joined many concert tours, created albums, and at the same time worked as a tour supporter, recorder, producer, arranger, and composer. He has produced and arranged, Junky Funk, LINE DRIVE, and Natsuki Kayukawafs CDs. He goes on stages at least 200 times per year. In 1994, he became part of Henry Band, and he also plays at Jazz live houses.

 
 
 

Maro Kitazawa: Percussion
In high school, he played in the school band as a drummer. After moving to Tokyo for college, he began studying under a professional drummer. After his professional debut, he moved to Paris at the age of 21. There, he met a percussionist that changed his life. Fascinated by Conga, he began studying Latin music and music philosophy, and from these studies his unique stage performances were created. After returning to Japan, he joined concert tours of many artists and created albums. In 1990, he joined Henry Band.

 
 
 

Masato Yamashita: Drums
He saw the Venturesf concert when he was little, and watching how much the drummers were loved by everyone, he knew at that moment that he was going to be a drummer too. At the age of 12, he started playing the drums and he moved to Tokyo at age 23. Afterwards he played at lives, composed, arranged, produced and did recordings for many artists, such as gCore of Soul,h gICE,h gsurface,h and gm-flo.h In 2003, he joined the Henry Band.
